The novel seems to capture the nature and essence of an old story being passed down orally in that regard, and the sections narrated by Miss Rosa seemed to go on forever before Quentin took over and continued in the seemingly extra Southern manner of storytelling. ![]() ![]() This was my 5th Faulkner novel, and while I had told myself over and over this would be a daunting read, I still was challenged by the book not because of how experimental the prose was, but by how long and drawn out the prose was. I've continued to aim at a dark fantasy tale with heart to it, leavened by the humour our point-of-view character introduces. This is my longest book to date, just over twice the word-count of Prince of Thorns, and I had a lot of fun writing it. That Lawrence guy writes just like I would if I could be bothered. There are occasional forays into computer games too. Now his time is really just divided between writing and caring for his disabled daughter.
